I finally hit 1,000 page views and it only took a year. lol

I have to say it’s been awesome to be part of the DA community for the last year. One of the things that has held me back as an artist has always been the fear of failure. Putting your work out there for people to see is hard. Always wondering if you are good enough or if your are even mediocre. Will I be able to make a living in an artistic field or will people just toss my work aside and say this guy will never make it. Fear stops us from doing a lot of things we dream about, but DA has helped me get over some of those fears. Sure, I have a long way to go before I can compete with all of the great artists that are out there, but sharing my work with all of you has given me the chance to ease into the world of an artist.

It’s been a few years since I graduated from art school and I have yet to figure out what to do with the skills I have been honing. The few art related jobs I held were cool, but just not what I wanted to do forever. One of my favorite sayings is, “Don’t be discouraged, be inspired.” It’s the way I feel about my relationship with art. From the first time I saw a comic book to the first time I saw one of Michelangelo’s paintings. When you see a great work of art you can be jealous and say, “I’ll never be that good.” or you can be awe inspired and work harder to be great yourself. Being part of DA has help inspire me to work harder. I know if I never let myself get discouraged my art will grow and I will eventually be the artist that helps to inspire others. That to me is what art is all about.
